Committed to serving her clients, Tara recognizes that they are going through some of the hardest times in their lives, and they need someone to help navigate the legal system. Tara stands up for her clients and holds the responsible parties accountable for their actions. Tara represents clients seriously injured as the result of personal injury, medical negligence, vehicle crashes, and other types of negligent conduct. She also represents clients in family law, adoption, guardianship, and estate planning matters.
Her work also goes beyond the clients she represents. She is actively involved in the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA), serving on its Executive Committee since May 2019, its Board of Directors since March 2010, as chair of its Amicus Committee since May 2015, and currently as Secretary of ITLA 2024. “Amicus” means “friend of the court.” When cases get appealed to our appellate courts, including the Indiana Supreme Court, sometimes ITLA gets involved in an advisory capacity as “Amicus” to share its views with our courts on how important cases can affect the people of our State, our workers, patients, citizens and those who are hurt who often don’t have the money or power to have their voices heard. Tara serves as the leader of the committee that selects the cases ITLA becomes involved in. She has received five appreciation awards from ITLA for her volunteer efforts in authoring Amicus briefs on issues important to Indiana victims of negligence. And in 2017-2019, Tara was presented with a “President’s Award” for her work on the ITLA Amicus Committee.
Tara was recently named the “2021 Influential Woman in Law” by the Northwest Indiana Influential Women Association (NWIIWA). Tara was nominated to the ITLA College of Fellows in November 2019. She has been named a Super by Indiana Super Lawyer’s Magazine from 2018-2024. From 2012 through 2017, Tara was named a Rising StarsSM by Indiana Super Lawyers® Magazine.
In 2010, Tara received the “Max Goodwin Young Lawyer of the Year Award,” the highest honor that can be given to a young lawyer by the ITLA, for her dedication to protecting the rights of injured people, her devotion to the community, and helping to advance Indiana Law in a positive direction for Indiana residents. In 2011, Tara was named as one of Indiana Lawyer’s “Up and Coming Lawyers.” Tara was also a graduate of the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Bar Leadership Series Lawyer Class of XII, 2014 – 2015.
Tara is also involved in the local community, currently serving as the Secretary-Treasurer of the La Porte County Bar Association and as the Fundraising Chair of the Heavilin Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization. Previously, she held the positions of President (2021-2023) and Treasurer (2019-2021) within the Heavilin Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization. Tara is a member of the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, and the Porter County Bar Association.
While living in Indianapolis, Tara and her husband, Mark, served as a “Big Couple” through Big Brothers Big Sisters to a boy from 2009 through 2012. They also enjoyed giving back to the community through their volunteer efforts with the Zionsville Lions Club. In 2012, she received the “President’s Award” from the Club for her service to the local community. She served as the Membership Director, 1st Vice President, and 2nd Vice President of the Club.
